The Ministry of Tourism said that it is postponing the regularization of Airbnb renters in the Dominican Republic for another year.

The lack of a tax plan that must be prepared by the Tax Agency (DGII) will delay the signing of an agreement to regularize short-rent properties through the Airbnb platform in the country.

“The regularization of Airbnb by the Ministry of Tourism is a matter of security, care, that what they offer to tourists is there. And if there is any inconvenience, just as we supervise hotels, we can supervise Airbnbs,” said Tourism Minister David Collado.
