I have not seen any here. Supposedly, a walking stick from guava is good. If someone from the countryside can get you a stick. But you may have to order from Amazon.

There are some medical supply companies in Puerto Plata & I would imagine they have canes.

Recently I saw myself in need of one of those, a whole week almost out of service with a sciatic pain...
No fun 😊 but thankful second week disappeared.
Good to have one handy!

You should also buy (might have to do it online) an added piece that allows any cane to effectively hang on the edge of any table or any hard surface such as on the edge of a counter. It comes in handy when in a restaurant since usually there is nowhere to put it.

I’m probably the youngest person in this forum that had to use a cane and now is more of an option than an obligation. Been there, done that and have a feeling at a certain age will be there again for good. Lol

Every time I go there is plenty of canes and all kind of mobility devices.
I know some people can't afford a wheelchair in DR and here they cost nothing.

These are the things I mention in that post. I bought two in case one is lost, but the only thing that got lost with the first one was the orange top. The thing has been in that bag, the original it came in, for more than 5 years. It will probably never come out from there. lol

This is what it looks like when clipped on the cane.

As long there is an edge of a hard surface, the cane remains balanced in the air. Removew the “where am I going to put this thing that it will not be awkward or trip someone.”
