This incident at a Marriott Autograph follows the recent accident of a Canadian mother and child from food poisoning at another resort in Dominican Republic. What ticks me off that they asked to sign NDA, which by means they don't want the world to know since they knew what is wrong and what it will happen. I'm glad the wife didn't sign any nonsense NDA papers, instead refund her money back and pay for her husband medical bills and others.

Not surprising, more stories unfolded here:

How? That thread is about skull has been smashed. This thread is about food poisoning. Two different issues. I'm lost?
Read the various posts, pretty much all that has been posted or commented on.

But doesn’t the fact that you are now writing about this in a public review violate your non-disclosure agreement?

Also, I’m curious—how could you prove that you got food poisoning specifically from this hotel unless you took a sample of the food and had it tested in a lab? Even then, the samples would have to be collected by a specialist working in a laboratory, in the presence of a court officer and independent witnesses.

Hotels here are not very keen on paying compensation. I used to work for a DMC inbound tour operator and helped guests resolve issues with hotels. Even in expensive hotels that care about their reputation, the best you might get as compensation is something like a discount on a massage.

I’m also curious—how much did it cost you to file a lawsuit? Because here, local lawyers won’t even lift a finger unless they get at least $1,000.

AI resorts are similar to grade schools as far as spreading norovirus and bacteria. Fat union bus drivers sit in the pool all day and drink beer never leaving the pool to relieve themselves. This can't be healthy. I now see more and more people with medical transdermal patches bouncing in and out of swimming pools. Gross!

He did not break his NDA, he did not disclose the name of the property. Many times, food poisoning incidents involve more than one person at the resorts. I have seen compensation such as stays being comped, future stays offered, etc...

Future Stays as compensation? That's like going back to live with your abusive spouse after a domestic violence arrest.
Poison me once, shame on you, poison me twice.... uh no thank you.

Well answer to your first question I still did not disclose at which hotel it happened.

also when it happened that's when the hotels were getting bad press about the fake alcohol that was served so that could have been a reason they wanted to put a lid on this and didn't want me going to the news,

trust me I had photos of tubes in my nose into my stomach they did not want those pictures to hit the news also if you stayed at the resort for 3 days where else could ever happen that

Payment for my lawyer I gave him percentage of my reward.

I hope this response clears up the doubt you have

That is why I NEVER send anything back to the Kitchen at a Restaurant .
You always see these Stories about " oh give them a chance to make it right"
Nah
They will NEVER take the constructive Criticism in a positive way, and probably spit on your Food and laugh at you.
I rather NOT finish the meal.. Tell the waitress its NOT for me , and ask for the Check immediately.
Get up and go to another Restaurant ..
They will get the message.. especially if you write a bad Review( if its really bad) with specific details.
And then never go back.

I've never been to a resort in Punta Cana and after reading about so many negative incidents taking place down there along with how they respond..
I'll never waste my time nor money on one.

This is one of the reasons I never go to an AI, especially in the DR where hygiene standards are optional. I thought the luxury ones are better but it looks like they are not.

I want to be able to choose my own food poisonings instead of being captive to the restaurants in the AI !

I think hygiene standards in DR are pretty good, and culturally Dominicans are very clean and hygienic. It's very unusual to come across anyone who smells bad, even with all the heat and the heavy denim that so many of them wear.

Most of the issues in AI's are from the customers. People don't wash their hands after having a poo and then use the plastic tongs at the buffet to serve themselves with. Exactly the same on cruise ships, but they usually insist on hand sanitisation when you enter the buffet.

Buffets are immunity builders; you get exposed to every virus and bacteria from the peasants of the world. It's like riding the N.Y subways. If you need an immunity upgrade just ride the train a few times, don't forget to grab the handrail and wipe your face.

I have never been able to build up immunity to the Bacteria filtered by SCUNGILLI ,, or Lambi
It is my personal Kryptonite and can put me down for 3 days with unmentionable consequences ..
Meanwhile others just Munch on it like its the best thing ever .
Clams, Oysters, Mussels .. never a problem.
But a Sea food Buffet ? is a Mine field for some of us .
