President Luis Abinader will lead the “Responsible Motorcycle Use Forum” on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Relations Convention Center. The forum will bring together government officials, business leaders, and transporter associations to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to motorcycle safety, Listin Diario reports.

The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) is organizing the forum as part of the development of the 2025-2030 National Road Safety Plan. The event aims to identify the main needs of the motorcycle sector, share best practices, and consolidate a commitment to reduce traffic accidents involving motorcycles.

And all these participants will come to the forum by…SUV.
Let’s hope they come up with some measurements that actually work.

Have them hold a meeting in the Playero Parking lot in Sosua and count the number of helmetless riders without mirrors or taillights intentionally running red lights.

As Bill Engvall says; "Here's your sign"

CB, those than can do, those that can’t talk about doing it. It’s political window dressing and you know what Mark Twain said about politicians. “They should be changed often like baby diapers and for the same reason”.

A whole event just to talk about what should be done, when in reality it's all about law enforcement.
Taxpayers money wasted on 1 day event, full logistics, and media and influencers sponsored to talk about this.

Mucha espuma and poco chocolate, baby!

Will Roger's said "Politicians are just a bunch of local bandits sent by their local voters to raid the public treasury."

Foreign (American) YouTubers are posting videos of themselves riding motorbikes around the country breaking the laws and encouraging their followers to come down here and do the same due to their lax enforcement of traffic laws. Not that I care but the authorities are fighting a losing battle in my opinion.

Love when guest act like they own the place.

The entire issue of motorcycle riding needs a draconian effort to control.

Until they get really heavy-handed enforcement (confiscation for any infraction) they're just peeing in the wind.

Isn't the above what the govt best does?

Just a couple of days ago, we passed by a major motorcycle distributor in Manolo Tavarez Justo in POP. Two full truckloads of new motos arrived as we passed by them... That's what we need, more of them...
