Again I'll mention the proceeds from sales of the book go towards the costs incurred rescuing the girl and the legal fees going forward. This is something I don't cover in the short story...that in the DR you must pay the police to launch an investigation unless, that is, an arrest order has been issued by the Fiscalia. If anyone has anything to add on this topic, I'd like to hear it. The family had to borrow two hundred and seventy thousand pesos...I'm being a smart ass...270,000 pesos to pay the police for the rescue. Going forward they've had to retain a lawyer to protect their interests during the hearings and eventual trial.
